Verizon To Get Another High End Motorola

A Motorola PR image depicting a RAZR MAXX with a Verizon logo on it has leaked out of the company today, indicating that as with the RAZR and KRZR, Motorola is producing CDMA versions of this new high end clamshell. Although the photo appears to be a composite, Phone Scoop can confirm its authenticity. The MAXX was introduced in July as a new 3G folder with touch sensitive external music controls. The model that was originally shown off featured HSDPA, a QVGA screen, MicroSD card slot and 2 Megapixel camera. The Verizon version shown in the photo labels the camera as a 2 Megapixel autofocus model and shows a much larger flash. It is unclear whether the Verizon MAXX will inherit other features such as the QVGA screen from the UMTS version.

Samsung WEP10L/WEP10R Bluetooth Headset Gets FCC Nod

Check out the cool new design on Samsung's WEP10L/WEP10R Bluetooth headset. FCC just approved this device. Compatible with Bluetooth 1.1 or higher and supporting Hands-Free and Headset profiles, the WEP10 features volume control buttons. The battery on the headset can be re-charged fully in about two-and-a-half hours. As usual, a multi-function buttons helps you in pairing the headset with a cell phone or other device. Because of the inherent design, Samsung is offering this in two versions: WEP10L for the left ear and WEP10R for the right ear. If your cell phone supports last-number redial, you can do it from your Bluetooth headset. No word on pricing or availability yet, but they should be revealed soon.

Zoom H4 Mobile Recorder

It’s hard to believe that something that is only six inches long can do so much. Yet the Zoom H4 Mobile Recorder can record not only 24-bit/96kHz digital audio, but MP3 format with bitrates up to 320kbps. It can also serve as a 4-Track recorder to give CD quality, 16-bit/44.1 kHz resolution. As you can see from the funny little barrel-shaped things on the end, it uses two studio-quality electret condenser microphones that are configured in an X/Y pattern for high performance recording. A back-lit, 128x64 pixel LCD gives a user interface so you know exactly what you are doing. The H4 records to a Secure Digital (SD) media, and even includes a 128MB SD card. An SD card of 2 GB will provide up to 380 minutes worth of recording. You can move whatever you recorded to your PC with the USB interface. The H4 is also designed to plug directly into your computer for use as an audio interface. All of this can be powered by 2 AA batteries for four hours worth of recording activity. The Zoom H4 should be available soon at a price of $299.

T-Mobile Will Begin Selling 3G Next Year

T-Mobile USA today detailed their launch plans for 3G services using the spectrum the carrier won in the most recent FCC auctions. The company will roll out UMTS / HSDPA service beginning mid 2007 in selected markets, and expects to offer nationwide 3G coverage by the end of 2008. CEO Robert Dotson says the company has "already completed 50 percent of the UMTS equipment rollout in New York." Because T-Mobile 3G services will be in a new band (1700 MHz) that no carrier could previously use, they will not be able to use current 3G handsets. However T-Mobile feels that because their 3G service will be limited to a single band, that they will be able to offer inexpensive 3G handsets after launch. Dotson also revealed that T-Mobile will launch UMA Cellular / Wi-Fi services beginning next year.

Update Will Add Speakerphone To Chocolate

Verizon will offer an update to enable speakerphone on the Chocolate. The upgrade will be part of a free software update that owners will be able to get by going into any Verizon store starting next week. Even though the Chocolate offers a number of advanced features, it did not launch with speakerphone capabilities, despite the fact that it is common on even the most basic handsets lately. Verizon does not yet offer over the air (OTA) updates, which allows users to patch oversights and bugs by downloading new software to the phone directly from the network. Sprint offers this capability on most their newer phones.

T-Mobile Dash Smartphone

These days, it is impossible to separate people from the cells and their internet, it’s like they have to stay connected all the time. T-Mobile’s new Dash Smartphone is designed for this demand to keep a customer hooked up with their telephone, e-mail, and Wi-Fi all the time. The T-mobile Dash is very compact, at only a half-inch thick and weighing in at 4.2 ounces. It has a cool QWERTY keyboard and 2.4 inch LCD keyboard (320 x 240 pixel resolution). All of this fits wonderfully in the palm of your hand. It is powered by Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0, as well as Direct Push Technology. Windows Media Player 10 allows you to play audio and video files from the internet, or transferred from a PC. Microsoft Office Outlook Mobile allows you access to your personal calendar and contacts. It is also full of features. You can operate a speakerphone with Bluetooth connectivity for hands-free use. It also has a 1.3 megapixel camera. On a certain plan, the device is completely Wi-Fi compatible, so you have full access to your e-mail and the World Wide Web from anywhere you can get reception. The reception of the 802.11b/g has quite a range with quad-band GSM, GPRS, and EDGE. The phone also features the myFaves enabling, which allows you to connect more easily to the people who you want to contact. The battery life is good for about five hours of talk time, and nine days of standby. Better be prepared to charge this one. No doubt the audio and video playback will eat up power faster than you can Dash. The T-mobile Dash will be available exclusively to T-Mobile customers starting late October. No word about a price yet, but information can be received at the T-Mobile site. When T-mobile says “Get more”, they must mean this.

Xplore M70 Smartphone

There are more smartphones (besides the Treo) that use Palm as the operative system than you think, the Xplore M70 is the most recent cellphone that belongs in this category. Made by GSPDA and announced earlier today, the M70 features Palm OS 5.4 Garret and makes use of the 3 band (900/1800/1900MHz) GSM system. It comes with a 2.2-inch TFT screen that has a 176x220 resolution and can display 260,000 colors, but the best part is always the touch-screen feature. The Xplore M70 has three ways to connect to other devices: either by simple old bluetooth, rare infrared, or good old fashioned USB. When transferring videos, make sure they are under MPEG4 or 3GGP format because that's the only video formats it can play. Of course that MP3 files can also be included to playback or to use as a ring tone, the 1.3 megapixel camera with digital zoom can't be forgotten (how else would you take silly photos or record dumb videos?) - a cellphone without at least a 1.3MP camera is useless these days. Additional specifications include an extra slot for a SD card so you can listen to more music, watch more videos or include important files related to work; and the possibility to check the e-mails (making use of POP3 and SMTP) plus view its attachments with the help of special software. If mp3 ring tones are not your type, maybe you prefer the old-school midi ring tones and in that case there are 40 poly ring tones you can pick from. To browse the internet there is GPRS class 10 which is in the middle of 2G and 3G speeds.

Can Winter Enduce Scratches On LCD's

With the winter approaching with each passing day its becoming more and more apparent that cold climate conditions combined with fragile LCD display devices don't really conincide too well. Just the other day I got up for work at around 4:30am. Yes it may be appropriate to say that I was not fully conscious yet. Which means I did not have my morning java yet. Anyway I placed my Razr V3 on the counter, only to see 5 minutes later that it had a huge scratch was on it. Bear in mind, that just the night before I was playing golf in my cellular device and it had no scratches. When seeing my phone with a scar, I let out a bellow in the wee parts of the morning only to have my wife tell me to "shut-up I am sleeping"...Ouch! After I got over my dispair I found that accessorygeeks.com sells a wonderful product called DISPLEX Display Polish. After a couple of coats that annoying scratch had completely vanished. Thanks accessorygeeks.com I love Displex. I reccomend anyone to shop there, you won't be regret it. Give them a call its even faster (866)433-5793.

Samsung SPH-M4500

Samsung Korea has unveiled its Anycall Fx phone series, which combine PDA, DMB and Internet capabilities, thus offering users true versatility and mobility. All handsets in this new series including the soon to be released SPH-M4500 will feature a slim slider design. In fact this handset is just 18.9mm, thus carrying forward Samsung’s fetish for slim handsets. The whole concept between the Anycall Fx lines is to incorporate all those functions which are necessary and I guess television is a high priority on Samsung’s list! The handset would have full PDA capabilities and include applications like MS word. However the phone’s sweet spot is no doubt its WiFi capabilities making it easier for sending and receiving emails or just browsing the net. When it comes multimedia functionality expect all the usual features like music player, 2 cameras and full PMP capabilities. Users will also dig the wide 2.4-inch LCD and the onboard microSD card slot. The Samsung- M4500 will be available soon in colors like White and Black and another handset in Anycall FX line, the SCH-M450 is in the pipeline. For more info visit Samsung
