N-Gage Makes Comeback in Nokia Smartphones

Any one who thought that the Nokia N-Gage always got a raw deal from Nokia may just now have a reason to smile. While the N-Gage managed to generate a loyal fan base it just wasn’t enough to sustain it. And even though the future of gaming phones is uncertain thanks to the advent of PSP and other Portable Devices, all is not lost yet.

It seems like that the N-Gage gaming platform will be raised from the dead (I know, I am being a tad dramatic) and will make it's appearance in all the future Nokia smartphones. The N-Gage software will be pre-loaded into the smart phones and will let customers buy and download games or play games from MMC cards. Nokia also promises the games to be highly interactive and exciting which would involve multiplayer facilities.

Though all this sounds good in paper, Industry experts claim that this may not take off because of the logistics involved and the stiff competition Nokia would face from Nintendo DS Lite, PSP and the Portable XBOX. All we can say is that only time will tell and the battle lines have been drawn. We predicted this way back at CES 2006, I guess dreams do come true after all.
