Chi-Mei UMA Smartphone Passes FCC

The Chi-Mei Smartphone which we previewed at CTIA this year has now passed FCC approval. The Debussey (DBS) is a quad-band GSM/EDGE candybar style smartphone running Windows Mobile Smartphone 2003 SE. It includes many of the latest software updates to the 2003 platform including Windows Media Player 10 and a file explorer. In addition to GSM, the DBS includes a Wi-Fi radio that can be used to make voice or data calls using UMA technology. The DBS also features Bluetooth, a 1.3 Megapixel camera and a Micro SD card slot. T-Mobile is expected to launch UMA this summer. They have not announced whether this will be one of the handsets they will offer.
